Packing Up & Moving In

We have people lined up to help us with our move and we are packing up.  Our couches, entertainment center, toddler bed, and bunk beds are gone so we don't have too many large or heavy items to move.  We are looking forward to starting fresh in our new house, even if we don't have any furniture for a little while.

After a long trip to Spokane and back we arrived at the house to drop off the carpet.  Rain was coming and the garage door openers had been unplugged.  We drove the truck into the back yard and Kyle and I unloaded a 12' x 62' roll of carpet all by ourselves onto the covered patio.  It was so heavy.  I was wearing flip flops ... no biggie.  Thank you Beki for helping me for almost three hours at The Carpet Barn.  It was pretty brutal but the end result is awesome.  Our carpet is SO soft.  It looks great.  It will look better once it is vacuumed up and the furniture goes in.

Master Bedroom

There was dilemma with the back splash.  The tiles needed trim pieces to go around the borders because the tiles didn't cut well.  We also realized that everything was becoming to matchy-matchy.  At the last moment we decided it needed to be changed and that meant stock tile from Home Depot or Lowes.  I went to Lowes with the tile setters and we picked out new stuff and he worked late into the night to finish it right away.  I barely had time to consider what we wanted and then it was complete.  It turned out beautiful.  It was not what I envisioned our kitchen to look like months ago, but I think it warmed up the kitchen and made it stand out as one of the centerpieces of the home. 

We ditched the matchy subway tiles and went with tumbled marble tiles and incorporated mosaics to tie the other colors together.  

 Ta-da!!  It looks especially great with the under cabinet lighting that we added.  Our cabinet pulls were installed yesterday as well.  They add the modern flare that I desired.  

 I found our hood on Amazon after shopping shopping shopping.  It looks great with the range and it was way cheaper than the name brand hoods.  I realized after the range was installed that the wrong model was ordered and it doesn't have the warming drawer in the bottom.  I am pretty disappointed because I know we would have used the warming drawer all the time for our Saturday morning pancake breakfasts.  It looks great and we are pleased to have saved the extra money that the feature would have cost.

 I splurged on our faucet since we will be using it every single day.  I hope it holds up for us.  

 Our door hardware was installed yesterday and we love it.

 The master tub is finished too.  I would have mounted the faucet on the end of the tub but it was already installed when I got to the house.  Oh well ... 

 The entire wall above the vanity is a huge mirror.  We love all the natural light reflected from the window over the tub.  I also LOVE the sconces I found to match our plumbing fixtures.  It all looks great.  The countertop is honed limestone and it matches the trim pieces that we used in the shower (same problem as the kitchen with the tile edges not cutting or buffing well).  It all ties together nicely.

The boys vanity light was special ordered.  I am glad I didn't pick a random stock item at a big box store.  The glass shades are textured white milk glass and they look really cool.

 The den is finished.  It is big and empty and will probably stay that way for quite some time.

I had one last decision to make for the fireplace surround tile and I couldn't make it.  Our builder but some temporary wood around the fireplace and installed cherry wood around the base to match the toe kick (no photo) and we will finish it later.  It is right in the middle of the house so I didn't want to make a hasty decision.  Hopefully I can come up with something and have it installed after we move in.  Our builder is building the house right next door to ours, so I think we can have the tile setter come back sometime in the next month.  

House Update

What has happened to me?  I used to be so good at keeping our family blog up to date.  Oh I know, we are building a house and we live in an apartment.  The countdown has begun to our move out date from the apartment.  Happy Birthday Kyle, we are moving out of the apartment on June 30th for your Birthday!!

This is Maddeck's last week as a first grader.  I am already sad, which will come as no surprise, that the year is coming to an end.  We have loved first grade and so has Maddeck.  It has been an awesome year.  The boys have been going to school on Thursday mornings with me to work with reading groups all year.  It has been special to be in the classroom for Psalm singing and getting to know all the little kiddos in the first grade.  We have been blessed beyond measure by the faithful teachers in the classroom.  They are amazing women of God who truly love teaching and children.  We have registered Maddeck and Evan for the fall at The River Academy and are praying for more work for me to do from home to provide the means to send them.  It has all come together for the last three years and we hope that will continue as we desire to continue their education at TRA.  We'll see ...

Here are some pics of our new house.  The house is on pace to be completed by the beginning of July.  We couldn't be more excited.  We also couldn't be more thankful.  The boys are getting excited now that they can see the progress inside.  We are now saying "our house" not "the house" when we drive down the street to visit.  Everything is coming along beautifully.  Our custom cherry cabinets are gorgeous!

Sometimes we are looking for a change.  Sometimes change comes to us.  After owning our lot for less than a year and many delays through our design process we made a big change.  A buyer approached us out of the blue with an offer on our lot.  Six attempts later from the potential buyer, we succumbed to his requests with joyful hearts.  The building lot that we loved in our favorite area of Wenatchee, Sunnyslope, was sold.  The other side of the coin, we are moving into a new house in July in our favorite area of Wenatchee, Sunnyslope!  God is good and gracious and stuns us with His provision.  We are always surprised when we receive the desires of our heart in abundance.  We don't deserve it, yet He freely gives.  

With a purchase agreement in one hand and a sale agreement in the other, we sold our lot and purchased a home.  It was a crazy week!!  In 76 days or less, we will be moving into our new house.  We feel a sense of relief and love our new house.  We are busy busy busy choosing finishes.  It is going to be an exciting 76 days!!

We have mountain views from every vantage point.  Although this address is not as private as our previous lot we are looking forward to the benefits of living in a new neighborhood with flat paved streets and sidewalks.  We look forward to having a landscaped yard and sprinklers on a timer.  Sleeping in the yard, running around barefoot in the grass (something that never happened at the old house because of the pine needles), riding bikes through the neighborhood, and having guests in our home, are all things we are so excited about.  It is NEW, everything is NEW!!  This is SO exciting!!
