Maddeck praying before dinner on Saturday night, August 18th 2012 ...
"God I just love you so much and I know that you died for me and I want to be baptized and be with you in heaven someday"
Me ...
"Have you asked Jesus into your heart?"
Maddeck ...
"Mom ... I just did." (with tears in his eyes ... so sweet)
Kyle and I took a few minutes to ask him some very serious questions and encourage him in his profession of faith and it went something like this ... (Oh, how a wish amazing moments were video recorded to look back on)
Are you a sinner? "Yes"
Will you stop sinning if you love Jesus? "No"
Will God forgive you when you sin? "Yes"
Why? "because Jesus died for me"
Why does the blood of Jesus cover your sins? "because he didn't sin and he was the perfect lamb"
Do you love Jesus? "Yes"
Maddeck, do you know that you are now a child of God? "Yes"
"Maddeck, we are so proud of you for obeying God and confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. That is all you have to do! God forgives our sins, past and present and future. Jesus loves you and you are filled with the Holy Spirit."
WOW, now we just need to shepard him and encourage him in his walk with the Lord. Remind him that he is a child of the King. Help him to know that he has been called (Ephesians 4:1). Help him know that he is the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Teach him what it looks like to be born again (1 Peter 1:23). Remind him that he is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Encourage him to be a light in the world (Matthew 5:14). Teach him what it means to be sealed by God (2 Corinthians 1:21-22). Explain to Maddeck that he is God's workmanship (Ephesians 2:10) that he is a holy temple (Ephesians 2:21) and a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:22). I want Maddeck to know with all his heart that his citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20) and that he belongs to God (1 Corinthians 6:20).
Thank you Lord Jesus for knitting Maddeck together in my womb and your faithfulness to him over the past six years. Thank you for bringing about spiritual discernment in our son and convictions. Thank you for saving him and filling him with your Holy Spirit. Please keep him firmly in your grip and use him as the salt and the light of the earth. Bear big and juicy fruit in his life that shouts out that He is a child of God. Help him to be a good son, a good brother, a good friend, a good student, and work diligently for your glory and praise. Lord make him alive in You and be STRONG in the power of Your might. Give Maddeck the mind of Christ as he walks through this life. Help him lead others to Your grace as he walks with You. Thank you Lord (I am crying, by the way). Amen.
What a blessed and holy moment! And what a delight you and Kyle are to the Lord for training up your boys! Rejoicing with you that this little lamb has found his Shepherd!
